Global Health: Shattered confidence versus the urgent need for more cooperation - how to “recover forward” after the Covid pandemic?

/ Online Workshop

Global disparities regarding the distribution of wealth, access to Covid-19 vaccination and the provision of health care structures are enormous. Various attempts to mitigate the imbalance have been made, yet support by Northern countries did not meet Southern expectations and trust between poorer and richer countries has been damaged. Nevertheless, the international dialogue on lessons to be learned from the pandemic is more urgent than ever, informed by the insight that we will be able to overcome the pandemic and the related crises only by cooperation on a global scale. How to build back trust between African, European and further international partners? How to shape development cooperation in order to contribute and help strengthen health care systems in countries of the Global South? What is the current status of vaccine production in African states? How can we foster resilience in societies? In cooperation with the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia, the One World Network NRW organizes a series of debates on these issues with experts from diverse backgrounds, starting on the 9th of June with this workshop on global health.
The Workshop will be online and in English
